About Lucy Nixon (@lucynixon)

Thanks for clicking on the Twitter URL … you’ve found Lucy at Corporate Eye.
But who are you?
I’m the editor here – we have 6 or 7 bloggers who each specialise in their own area, but they are all focused on the corporate website stakeholder areas:
You can find out more about each of the bloggers by clicking on the name at the bottom of their blog posts – or by going to this page about the bloggers.
I want to know more about you, though …
How did I get here? I ran a small web design business during my children’s early years, and before that, I worked for 10 years as a management consultant for Andersen Consulting (now known as Accenture), in systems and – later – strategy, mostly within central government departments.
I was trained as a philosopher; I hold a D.Phil in Philosophy from Jesus College, Oxford. I studied Ancient Greek as a side subject, in order to be able to read Aristotle in the original; my thesis was about his theories of reproduction.
So I have experience in research, logic and analysis, business, consultancy and web design, as well in running a team of bloggers and maintaining an authority blog – a wide range of skills, but nevertheless one that makes a powerful mix. And I’m a keen believer in life-long learning – not a day passes but I learn something new.
Anything else?
What, apart from launching a new business and running a family with three young children? I’m on the local Parish Council, so am active in local government, although in the lowest tier. (And no, I have no political ambitions!) And I run a second blog, Free From, which is about living gluten free, and raising a coeliac child – it covers everything from the day-to-day issues to the impact of the big political decisions. But not recipes.
Why don’t you have a corporate Twitter name?
Well, we’ve considered it, but Twitter is a conversation, so we see it as a person-to-person network and we’re sticking with my username for now, though this might change. Some companies are making it work with a corporate Twitter name, or with a brand Twitter name; others have several people Twittering as individuals on behalf of the company – or you could have several people Twittering using the same account.
So what do you Twitter about?
Mostly about things that have caught my eye, though sometimes I link to interesting posts that are here, or reply to other people.
And what do you think about Twitter?
We think it’s a great tool, whether for personal use or for business. Here are just a few of the things we’ve said in the past about the way companies use Twitter:
- Demographics, Twitter and Virtual Meetings
- Corporate Brands Get a Lift from Twitter
- Getting Satisfaction from Customer Complaints
- Are you a professional Twitterer? You should be!
- Intel takes on a new recruitment agency
