{"id":31213,"date":"2009-12-16T01:41:37","date_gmt":"2009-12-16T01:41:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.corporate-eye.com\/blog\/?p=31213"},"modified":"2009-12-16T01:41:37","modified_gmt":"2009-12-16T01:41:37","slug":"the-importance-of-relationship-branding-and-marketing-in-building-loyalty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.corporate-eye.com\/main\/the-importance-of-relationship-branding-and-marketing-in-building-loyalty\/","title":{"rendered":"The Importance of Relationship Branding and Marketing in Building Loyalty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I love it when I&#8217;m contacted to speak at an event about relationship branding and marketing.\u00a0 It&#8217;s one of my favorite subjects.\u00a0 I suppose that&#8217;s why I wrote books about two successful relationship brands, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Harry-Potter-Global-Business-Phenomenon\/dp\/023020323X\/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1260927480&amp;sr=8-4\">Harry Potter<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Building-Brand-Value-Playboy-Way\/dp\/023057789X\/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1260927480&amp;sr=8-5\">Playboy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Today, I read about the results of the 2009<a href=\"http:\/\/www.coneinc.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Cone<\/a> Consumer New Media Study on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emarketer.com\/Article.aspx?R=1007419\">eMarketer&#8217;s Web site<\/a>, which was all about the importance of building brand loyalty through relationship marketing.\u00a0 Naturally, I was intrigued and took a moment to check out the study results.\u00a0 Check out the chart below from the study which show the attitudes of U.S. new media users towards companies and brands that they&#8217;re able to interact with via new media from September 2009:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-31214 lazyload\" title=\"emarketer_relationship_marketing_brand_loyalty\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.corporate-eye.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/emarketer_relationship_marketing_brand_loyalty.gif\" alt=\"emarketer_relationship_marketing_brand_loyalty\" width=\"324\" height=\"424\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 324px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 324\/424;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Nearly three-quarters of respondents have a more positive impression of a company or brand after interacting with them via new media and nearly three-quarters feel stronger connections with those companies and brands.\u00a0 That&#8217;s a big percentage.<\/p>\n<p>There is no doubt that social media presents a significant opportunity to businesses and brands to engage consumers, interact with them and develop relationships with them, which can lead to brand loyalty, advocacy, and word-of-mouth marketing.\u00a0 The days of competing on the basis of the 4 Ps are over.\u00a0 In the 21st century, savvy consumers need more than a competitive price, and brands need more than traditional advertising to get noticed and be remembered by consumers who move faster than ever before.<\/p>\n<p>However, the key to social media marketing success is a willingness to give up control of the online conversation so relationships can develop.\u00a0 Brands have to speak <em>with<\/em> consumers, not at them.\u00a0 Are you ready to do that for your brand?\u00a0 Or is the more appropriate question, &#8220;are your executives willing to let you do that for your brand?&#8221;\u00a0 That&#8217;s where the gap continues to exist.<\/p>\n<p>Next time you&#8217;re heading into a meeting with the C-Suites, take along this chart and show them that consumers truly do value social media interaction.\u00a0 At the very least, it&#8217;s a step in the right direction, and maybe, just maybe, you&#8217;ll get an approval on your next social media marketing initiative.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I love it when I&#8217;m contacted to speak at an event about relationship branding and marketing.\u00a0 It&#8217;s one of my favorite subjects.\u00a0 I suppose that&#8217;s why I wrote books about two successful relationship brands, Harry Potter and Playboy.
