LV= site<\/a>, and had a really fun visit.\u00a0 It\u2019s quirky without being gimmicky\u2014which is tough to pull off.<\/p>\nOnrec (\u201cThe Magazine for Online Recruitment Around the World\u201d) didn\u2019t offer any specifics about their award choice, but here\u2019s my reaction to the LiverpoolVictoria site.<\/p>\n
What I loved:<\/strong><\/p>\nIt\u2019s loaded with real people.\u00a0 They do seem to skew toward the extra-attractive, but not so much that it seems staged.\u00a0 And they are identified with first names and titles, so there\u2019s a feeling of authenticity. <\/strong>Nice touch:\u00a0 The people are actually interacting with one another\u2014sharing activities instead of just staring into the camera.<\/p>\nIt\u2019s tongue-in-cheek.\u00a0 The banner at the top of the page looks like a bumper sticker, and there\u2019s a continuing theme of lime-green hearts . . . and umbrellas . . .\u00a0 and\u2014well, you just have to see it.\u00a0 In general, there\u2019s not a lot of playfulness on corporate websites, because there\u2019s always a risk that not everyone will \u201cget it,\u201d and it doesn\u2019t wear well for long.\u00a0 (Novelty has to be updated.)\u00a0 But done right, whimsy can be very engaging<\/strong>.<\/p>\nIt\u2019s obvious, but not in a boring way.\u00a0 That means you can easily find what you\u2019re looking for (so it\u2019s intuitive<\/strong>), yet you don\u2019t feel the need to rush because wherever you are, there\u2019s something of interest.<\/p>\nWhat I liked:<\/strong><\/p>\nThis was a total surprise.\u00a0 I usually don\u2019t<\/em> like sound (music, speech, or otherwise) on a website.\u00a0 But LV= is awash in sound–peppy music, people talking, etc.–and it seems to work.\u00a0 I think that\u2019s mainly because the sound supports the visuals and fits the personality of the company.\u00a0 Plus:\u00a0 You can easily turn it off, so it\u2019s user-friendly<\/strong>.<\/p>\nThe basic options<\/strong> are there, in the sense that you can you can easily locate and apply for vacancies, and you can also create a job alert.<\/p>\nWhat seemed to be missing:<\/strong><\/p>\nI saw zero social media connection.\u00a0 Although that\u2019s not a deal-breaker, it does imply that the site is a bit behind the curve.\u00a0 It’s interesting that Onrec (which is focused specifically on online recruiting) gave the top award to a site with no Facebook and no Twitter.\u00a0 But on the up side:\u00a0 If LV= hasn\u2019t committed to a social media strategy, at least they are not trying to fake it.<\/p>\n
I couldn\u2019t find a link to the main corporate site.\u00a0 That seems odd.<\/p>\n
It doesn\u2019t appear you can upload a CV proactively\u2014just for a specific position. However, their description of the employment process (which is clear, helpful and easy to find) indicates that resumes will be compared against all open positions.<\/p>\n
