{"id":2943,"date":"2008-12-08T07:10:25","date_gmt":"2008-12-08T07:10:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.corporate-eye.com\/?p=2943"},"modified":"2020-07-27T14:44:32","modified_gmt":"2020-07-27T13:44:32","slug":"is-your-brand-on-twitter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.corporate-eye.com\/main\/is-your-brand-on-twitter\/","title":{"rendered":"Is Your Brand on Twitter?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2944 lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 130px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 130\/108;10px;\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.corporate-eye.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/twitter-badge.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"130\" height=\"108\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" \/>There are many brands that leverage <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a> for communicating with customers.\u00a0 Whether those brands use it to dispel rumors, for customer service, or simply to share information isn&#8217;t as important as the fact that they&#8217;re taking the time to join the online conversation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In an interview in <em>Conde Nast Portfolio Magazine<\/em>, Twitter CEO Evan Williams shared some insight into the future of Twitter, which might make you think again about jumping on the Twitter bandwagon if you&#8217;re not already there.\u00a0 In the interview (via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.internetnews.com\/webcontent\/article.php\/3788701\/Twitter+CEO+Predicts+Revenues+in+09.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">InternetNews.com<\/a>), Williams stated that growth is a major initiative for Twitter whose user-base has grown well into the millions since its launch in 2007.\u00a0 Competitors have launched, but Twitter has emerged as the micro-blogging leader.\u00a0 The future is bright, but not golden.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>While smaller competitors have managed moderate success, bigger competitors are starting to have an impact on Twitter&#8217;s business plan.\u00a0 Since <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google<\/a> purchased Jaiku in October 2007, Twitter feels some pressure from a competitor with a big name and a big budget behind it.\u00a0 However, Twitter has secured new funding that will allow it to grow and in the words of Evan Williams,\u00a0 reach its potential to &#8220;dwarf&#8221; other successful Internet start-ups such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blogger.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Blogger<\/a>\u00a0(now owned by Google).<\/p>\n<p>New threats are expected to arise as Google competitors Microsoft and Yahoo!
