{"id":1544,"date":"2008-09-12T06:00:29","date_gmt":"2008-09-12T05:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.corporate-eye.com\/?p=1544"},"modified":"2021-01-04T14:17:38","modified_gmt":"2021-01-04T13:17:38","slug":"mobile-social-networking-set-to-explode-is-your-brand-ready","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.corporate-eye.com\/main\/mobile-social-networking-set-to-explode-is-your-brand-ready\/","title":{"rendered":"Mobile Social Networking Set to Explode &#8211; Is Your Brand Ready?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.corporate-eye.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/facebook-social-networking-mobile-phone.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1545 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.corporate-eye.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/facebook-social-networking-mobile-phone.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"174\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.corporate-eye.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/facebook-social-networking-mobile-phone.jpg 240w, https:\/\/www.corporate-eye.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/facebook-social-networking-mobile-phone-150x108.jpg 150w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 240px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 240\/174;\" \/><\/a>Earlier this month, I wrote about the expected <a href=\"https:\/\/www.corporate-eye.com\/main\/is-your-brand-ready-for-mobile-advertising\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>growth trends for mobile advertising<\/strong><\/a> asking if your brand is ready to leverage the medium.\u00a0 Today, I&#8217;m asking a similar question &#8211; is your brand ready to leverage mobile social networking?<\/p>\n<p>According to a study by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abiresearch.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ABI Research<\/a>, more than 140 million mobile subscribers around the world will use social networks through their cellular phones by 2013.\u00a0 That projection is actually very small in comparison to projections made by other research companies.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.juniperresearch.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Juniper Research<\/a> estimated in a report released a year ago that approximately 600 million mobile subscribers will use social programs through their cellular phones by 2012, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pyr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pyramid Research<\/a> estimated earlier this year that the number would be closer to 950 million by 2012.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.emarketer.com\/Article.aspx?id=1006514\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">eMarketer<\/a> predicts a higher number, too &#8211; 800 million by 2012 to be exact.\u00a0 According to eMarketer, in 2007, only 2.7% of mobile phone subscribers use social networking tools through their cell phones, but in 2012, that percentage will increase to 18.8%.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Taking into consideration that these projections don&#8217;t include pay-as-you-go mobile users, the case can be made that not only is mobile advertising a medium marketers need to include in their budgets but so should experimenting and learning how best to leverage social networks both online and through mobile access.<\/p>\n<p>Is your brand prepared for the mobile trends?\u00a0 If not, you need to make mobile marketing and social media marketing\u00a0priorities and start developing a plan.\u00a0 Doing nothing is the worst decision.<\/p>\n<p><em>Image: Flickr<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this month, I wrote about the expected growth trends for mobile advertising asking if your brand is ready to leverage the medium.\u00a0 Today, I&#8217;m asking a similar question &#8211; is your brand ready to leverage mobile social networking?
