One Time, at Brand Camp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Never let it be said that marketers and branding people can&#8217;t poke fun at themselves!\u00a0 If you thought branding wasn&#8217;t funny, think again.\u00a0 A new book was just released by Tom Fishburne called <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lulu.com\/content\/3307163\" target=\"_blank\">This One Time, at Brand Camp<\/a><\/em> that is filled with sarcastic and witty cartoons related to marketing, branding and business.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I found out about this book from Tom Fishburne&#8217;s current virtual book tour through Post2Post, and I&#8217;m glad I did.\u00a0 John Moore&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/brandautopsy.typepad.com\/brandautopsy\/2008\/08\/this-one-time-a.html\" target=\"_blank\">Brand Autopsy<\/a> is one of Tom&#8217;s stops on his virtual book tour, and John posted links to a number of Tom&#8217;s branding-related cartoons on Flickr in his review post.\u00a0 As far as Tom is concerned, no branding or marketing topic is safe from sarcasm.\u00a0 <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Check out his cartoon called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/brandcamp\/2374415447\/in\/set-72157603846916459\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ideation Nation<\/a> that pokes fun at the many corporate brainstorming session that we all have to sit through too many times to count.\u00a0 One of my former bosses loved the word &#8220;ideation&#8221;, so this one hit close to home for me.\u00a0 I also love his cartoon called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/brandcamp\/2239357371\/\" target=\"_blank\">Brand Hookups<\/a> where two brands walk into a bar&#8230;.you&#8217;ll have to check out the cartoon to learn how this one ends.<\/p>\n<p><em>This One Time, at Brand Camp<\/em> is actually the second book in a series of branding and marketing-related cartoon books from Tom Fishburne.\u00a0 The first, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lulu.com\/content\/3763110\" target=\"_blank\">Brand Camp<\/a><\/em>, was released in 2004.\u00a0 If you like <em>Dilbert<\/em>, you&#8217;ll most likely enjoy the <em>Brand Camp<\/em> series, which is all to real in its humorous look behind corporate marketing and branding doors.<\/p>\n<p>I love <em>Dilbert<\/em>, and I&#8217;m going to buy and will likely totally enjoy <em>This One Time, at Brand Camp<\/em>.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Because it looks like it provides one more reminder that corporations have a problem in terms of not being able to get out of their own way.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s hard not to get caught up in the &#8220;current way of doing things&#8221; and it&#8217;s even harder to\u00a0be truly innovative for the sake of creating the best marketing and branding initiatives possible rather than just appeasing the execs and hitting the required numbers.\u00a0\u00a0 When you find yourself up against those common barriers, reach for your copy of <em>This One Time, at Brand Camp<\/em> and remember, you&#8217;re not alone.\u00a0 Just keep on
