A more collaborative governance structure might be helpful. In Germany, the unions actually have seats on the boards of the companies where their members work.

Personally, I feel the only real long-term solution for what ails business and society is for individuals everywhere to first understand what we know about the development of our own minds and brains and then apply those findings to create better human beings! See my Enlightened Economics blog post at http://enlightenedeconomics.wordpress.com/2007/12/03/economics-missing-ingredient-consciousness/

Best wishes to everybody for the holidays. Ron

Hi Ron -- thank you very much for your comments.

And interesting question strikes me. As companies more more and more towards models built for sustainability, do you see there being a change in the model upon which these companies are built? For example, a change from outright share ownership towards a more collaborative and cohesive model of mutuality?

Best wishes -- Chris

Good coverage of the Equator Principles. Banks and financial institutions will realize in time that the more they hitch themselves to environmental sustainability, the more they and their shareholders will benefit.

I also believe that if individual investors invest according to their personal values, then, since so many of our core values are alike -- and are supportive of higher ideals such as sustainability -- that in the long run, only companies employing these higher values will truly prosper.

For anyone interested I have a site that covers the latest global news and research on ethical investing. It's at http://investingforthesoul.com/
