Zack, I'm the same way. It's usually fun to watch anyone do their thing when they're the best at it. And when someone is really revved up wen they talk about their passion, I can't help but get excited. That's why I went to library school. It isn't sexy, but the recruiter had been a Baptist preacher and he was pretty fiery about cataloging:)

My father always said, "It's great to talk to the expert, whatever the field." Talking to someone who really knows his or her stuff in any field is a fun thing to do. The trouble comes from general feelings of expertness.

When you are an expert in some fields people will often expect you to act the expert in all of them. This is especially true in Corporate America when experts are often brought in for a high cost.

Collaboration is about recognizing everyone's talents and seeing how they can help the team. Some team members are good organizers, some good writers, and others have very specific expertise. They key is recognizing everyone's expertise and letting them all shine.

This is easier said than done, but it is very possible with a little work. Thanks for the great post.

Lucy, thanks for having me over. This was a lot of fun to write. For the record, I'm not an expert at anything except pretending to be smart:)
