ENI: a benchmark for Corporate Governance

Benchmarking is a useful business technique. It involves comparing your company’s practices against those of best practices companies.

For Corporate Governance a benchmark website is ENI, a Rome based integrated energy company. Before I cover Corporate Governance, you should visit the landing page for the Company section.

Note the creative navigation – slide the bar and the section changes with images and descriptions.

Navigate to to THE RULES section and view one of the most comprehensive displays of Corporate Governance topics.

ENI rules

First, note The Rules which guides ENI’s practices. Not only is this unique among websites but it also enhances their transparency. On the left, note the complete navigation. Toward the bottom click on the Organization chart and view the company’s C-Suite members. Click on the images and you are navigated to a full biography.

Next, go to the upper right and note the Common Tags that allow you to quickly navigate to related issues.

ENI also offers a through description of their  Operations and Strategy. They describe their operations around the world.

Finally, go to the The Complexity of the Energy Scenario to see a comprehensive Industry Analysis. This plus the operations review gives investors an excellent coverage of relevant information.

ENI is truly a benchmark Corporate Governance site and provides many examples of how to enhance other companies’ websites.
